Our MIMM Journal Club meeting for May 2011 will be held

Undergraduate student Matthew Poon from the MAPLE Lab at McMaster will be presenting some of his work on “The communication emotion in piano music: Exploring the relationship between pitch height, articulation rate, and modality.”
Matthew is piano major at McMaster University, with a background in musical performance, theory, and conducting. His main research interest is music perception and music theory as related to performance and composition. He is currently working on a project exploring acoustic parallels between music and speech with respect to the communication of emotion. He is also working on a second project examining speech rhythm and melody in Cantonese.
